This is my design for the Eastern Commonwealth flag. The right flag is the one I hand drawn (I hope Melissa Meyer will enjoy my mad coloring skills) and it was what I initially wanted to submit, but I thought I might as well do one on the computer and ta-da, the left one. I gave a lot of thought about what the flag should look like in the future of the world with princes (♥), cyborgs, and what-not. I mean, how do you even design something that would be just as brillant as the book?

After a lot of thought and lots of doodling, I settled for this one. Its not the best design I’ve ever seen but I’m pretty proud of myself. I got the inspiration for the star from the Chinese flag and the broken red circle (the broken white part was just pulled out of my brain) from Japan. In my imagination, before World War IV, Japan and China were still superpowers in the world and now that they have joined together in peace, the complete each other like the star completes the half red circle which also is there to remind everyone of all the bloodshed during the war. The blue at the bottom of the flag represents the ocean that connects the Eastern Commonwealth together. The strand of rice plant over the star represents peace and prosperity similar to the United States eagle that hods the olive branch. Rice is common in most Asian culture and important too, hence why I put it there.

Well, there is my lame explaination and lame design…. Yea, I’ll just sit here and wait for Scarlet to come out! For more info, go to http://www.marissameyer.com/books.

I wonder if anyone still remembers the cute little Astronaut Banana Man ♥
